Singletons mark your diary. Sapphire Martini Lounge is hosting a speed dating night this Wednesday, heralding hope for those still searching for love.
The event, in partnership with dms broadcasting, kicks off at 6pm with registration. The speed dating is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.
Speed dating – a phenomenon popularised by hit TV shows such as Sex and the City – requires equal numbers of men and women, who all ‘date’ each other. It’s designed for busy professionals whose hectic lives leave little time to find that special someone.
Participants will be split into groups of up to six, who will each go on four minute ‘dates’. Everyone will be given a sheet to hand into organisers to mark if they are interested in any of the dates. If there is a match, organisers will then pass on contact details, with permission.
The event ends when all the men have dated all the women.
The dating will take place in a screened off area in Sapphire, ensuring ample privacy for daters, and will be hosted by a local radio personality.
Jason Pierotti, bar tender/manager at Sapphire, said he decided to put on the event after spotting a gap in the market.
‘Speed dating has been done in the past in Cayman and has always been a great success.
‘It’s a fun event where you get to meet like-minded people in an informal environment. In addition, Sapphire is the ideal venue offering an intimate place for people hoping to find love. We are positive this is going to be a very successful night.’
The event is free to attend and complimentary cheese and crackers will be provided. In addition Sapphire, located in Seven Mile Shops, will be serving up its signature martinis and sushi.
