Crash victim is named

The man who died in a car crash in the early hours of Saturday morning has been identified as 69-year-old Aston Jarrett of George Town.

Mr Jarrett had been driving a white Toyota Corolla when it collided with a black Mercedes Benz on Shamrock Road in the vicinity of Grand Harbour at around 2.15am.

Officers from the Traffic Management Unit are investigating the cause of the crash and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

‘I thank all those who have come forward so far,’ said Chief Inspector Courtney Myles, who stated the response from the public has been good so far. ‘However, if there is anyone else who saw what happened I encourage them to get in touch as the more information we have the better,’ he said.

A family liaison officer has been assigned to relatives of Mr. Jarrett and condolences are sent to his family and friends.

Anyone who can assist should contact Mr Myles on 926-0649 or 946-6254.

Witnesses can also contact Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS). All persons calling crime stoppers remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward of up to $1000, should their information lead to an arrest or recovery of property/drugs.
