Beach bag theft prompts alert

Residents and visitors are being warned to keep an eye on their personal items when at the beach following the theft of a bag.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service was alerted to the theft at Public Beach, West Bay Road at around 11.20am on Thursday, 29 May.

Officers attended and were informed by two cruise ship passengers that their bag had been stolen while they were swimming.

An area search was carried out but neither the bag nor the contents were located.

Although this type of theft is rare in the Cayman Islands, it highlights the need for people to be aware of their property and their surroundings at all times.


Anyone with information about crime taking place in the Cayman Islands should contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS).

Anyone calling Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward of up to $, 000, should their information lead to an arrest or recovery of property or drugs.
