Simple solution

One suggestion to alleviate traffic congestion on Walkers Road would be for the three largest private schools to begin using buses.

In 2007, the total student population for the three main private schools on Walkers Road was approximately 1,525 students.

Of those – some 1,150 students are being transported to Walkers Road as follows: St. Ignatius 650 students; Cayman Prep High School 350 students and Truth for Youth 150 students.

Implementing a bus system for the three private schools on Walkers Road would certainly go a long way to alleviating congestion. The alternative is having some 1,000 individual family vehicles transporting these children to school every day.

This is a simple, cost-effective and environmentally responsible option, which the Government ought to seriously consider.
