The Cayman Islands Tourism Attraction Board is hosting an Old-time Cayman Garden Party at Pedro St. James Castle Sunday, 27 July.
The event, celebrated under the theme Keep Cayman Culture Alive is free to the public from noon to 6pm.
The day of culture promises to feature loads of traditional food and entertainment, including cooking demonstrations from each of the districts, music by the North Side Kitchen Band, quadrille dancers, catboat dedication, paving of gravel walkways and the kick-off of Friends of Pedro membership programme.
People who join the Friends of Pedro program on the day will receive a unique catboat-themed work of art by local artist Horatio Esteban.
Awards will go to district cooks selling food and only people who purchase can vote.
For those interested in selling food at the event, there is a $75 per table fee.
An informal People’s Choice’ award will be present to the districts whose cooks create the following dishes: The best traditional seafood or non-seafood entrée, side dish, baked dessert or treat, non-baked dessert or treat and natural beverage.
