For the second time in a week, the lights went out over a significant portion of Grand Cayman.
The Caribbean Utilities Company reported that a fault in the electrical transmission line feeding its South Sound power sub-station caused outages in several island districts this morning.
The outage, at 10.22am, hit parts of Bodden Town, George Town, East End and North Side. CUC officials said all customers had power restored less than two hours later.
There was a major power outage on Thursday evening which affected CUC customers from West Bay to North Side. Again, the lights were restored in about two hours.
CUC blamed that outage on a mechanical fault in the company’s North Sound engine room.
