RE/MAX Cayman Islands will mark October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Breast Cancer Gala Dinner at the Westin Casurina Resport on 11 October.
The evening will celebrate the survivors and raise funds for local not-for-profit organisations, the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens as well as the internationally recognised Susan G. Komen organisation.
‘Breast Cancer is something that has touched nearly all of our lives,’ said a press release from RE/MAX announcing the event. ‘Whether we have experienced it personally, through a direct relative, a friend or even a friend of a friend, chances are we all know someone who has had breast cancer. RE/MAX Cayman Islands wants to help change that.’
The evening will feature a keynote speaker from Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists working together to end breast cancer forever. For over 25 years the organisation has invested in breast cancer research, early detection and access to quality care for every woman and man affected by the disease.
‘Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and one of the leading causes of death from cancer in women,’ explained Christine Sanders of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. ‘Here in the Cayman Islands we have seen great success with early prevention. Through charitable donations like the ones raised with this Gala event, we hope to establish a foundation for breast cancer prevention,’ she said.
‘We want absolutely everyone to be aware of breast cancer prevention,’ commented Kim Lund owner and broker at RE/MAX Cayman Islands. ‘No matter who you are, or what your economic and financial conditions are, we want to see everyone have the same treatment options and the same benefits of early detection and treatment. He added: ‘We want to celebrate the survivors and grown their numbers.’
With a Gala dinner and silent and live auction, the evening promises to be full of entertainment and enjoyable for all.
Tickets are on sale at the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, who is located in the MCR Building, 33 Eclipse Drive and at RE/MAX Cayman Islands’ location at the Seven Mile Shops on West Bay Rd.
