Cayman Airways has this week announced the appointment of Mr. Gilles Filiatreault as its Acting Chief Executive Officer and Captain Olson Anderson as the CEO Designate.
Mr. Filiatreault comes with over 40 years international airline experience with a significant portion in CEO positions or in an advisory role, said a press release.
A Canadian national, Mr. Filiatreault has worked with Air Canada and also has experience in the Caribbean region, holding very senior posts in Caribbean airlines.
Some of the Caribbean airlines he headed include LIAT, along with former airline BWIA and Caribbean Star Airlines, which was bought out by LIAT.
Mr. Filiatreault joins Cayman Airways now from his post as CEO of TACV in the Cape Verde Islands.
Mr. Anderson, Vice President Flight Operations of Cayman Airways, will understudy Mr. Filiatreault to better prepare him to take on the airline’s top job, the release noted.
Both Mr. Filiatreault and Mr. Anderson will take on the airline’s top job this coming 22 September with the departure of CAL’s present CEO, Mr. Patrick Strasburger, who tendered his resignation in July for personal reasons.
When announcing the appointments, the Chairman of Cayman Airways’ Board of Directors, Ms. Angelyn Hernandez, said ‘Olson brings to CAL over 20 years of international experience in the airline industry and knowledge of local and international regulatory matters. Mr. Filiatreault has a wealth of experience and brings depth to the brilliant team of professionals we have on the Executive team. We have every confidence that this team will successfully face the challenges and responsibilities of leading Cayman Airways.’
