Appleby has won ‘The Leading Fund Disputes Team’ award granted by the Hedge Fund Journal, in their annual US Awards for 2008.
The awards ceremony was held on September 18 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Jeremy Walton, Bryan Hunter and John Wasty represented Appleby at the prestigious event.
In recognising Appleby’s achievements, the Hedge Fund Journal commented ‘Jeremy Walton and his team have been involved in numerous leading disputes in the Cayman Courts.
It was Appleby’s involvement, as lawyers to the investors in the now infamous Bear Stearns structured credit funds that really brought the Team to international prominence.’
Jeremy Walton, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. He said: ‘It is indeed a great honour to be recognised and commended for our work in the funds arena. This award is evidence of the dedication and success of our Fund Disputes Team.’
Appleby was the first offshore law firm to launch a dedicated Fund Disputes Team in June 2007 and since then has been involved in most of the leading litigation, insolvency and restructuring cases.
The team has significant experience in representing the full range of parties involved in fund-related matters: including liquidators, directors, investment managers, auditors, shareholders and creditors.
