Teed up for more success

Golf pro Jason March joined the North Sound Club last month and membership, particularly the juniors, has already benefitted from his enthusiasm, professionalism and great talent on the greens.

‘Jason’s experience with junior golf programmes has been instrumental in the North Sound Club’s new junior golf programme launching so successfully,’ said Mike Ryan, owner of the North Sound Club.

‘The first time this programme was run it was immediately clear that the Cayman Islands’ junior players were interested in receiving professional instruction on a regular basis.

‘I encouraged Davy Ebanks, the club’s managing director, to work with his staff to make this programme available on an ongoing basis and am delighted that we have received a firm commitment from Davy, Kevin Mumford, the director of golf and Jason that they will devote significant amounts of time to the development and implementation of this programme in the future.’

March spent 11 years at Dentonia Park Golf Course in Canada where he developed and originated the first ever Par 3 Metro Toronto Amateur Golf Championship which recently celebrated its sixth successful year.

March has competed in provincial and national level events as an amateur, as well as trying his hand in PGA Tour Monday Qualifiers as a professional, and currently holds the competitive course record at his home course Dentonia Park.

His true love; however, lies in helping all levels of player with improving their golf games with an emphasis on beginners and juniors.

March said: ‘All great players had a starting point, and most assuredly, a mentor. It gives me great joy to see a child make his or her first birdie but it gives me a greater thrill to see that same youngster exude the happiness and exuberance I had when I got started in this great game. That’s why I’m here. That’s what I want for Cayman.’

‘Jason has already become an indispensible member of our team here at The North Sound Club’ said Davy Ebanks.

‘We are delighted to have him here, both a the club and in the Cayman Islands and we look forward to the many long, exciting golf days we have ahead of us.’
