The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service investigated an incident in which a man fell four floors from the Renaissance Building, a new seven storey building under construction on West Bay Road.
The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call at around 8.50am Monday reporting that an employee had fallen from scaffolding on the fourth floor.
Police and medics responded to the scene and found a man with serious injuries, including a fractured right hip and head injuries. The man, a Jamaican national in his 30s, was taken to hospital; his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The Employment Relations Department was also informed of the incident and sent an officer to conduct a health and safety investigation.
The construction site was closed to allow officers to process the scene. The matter is not considered suspicious and has been handed over to the Employment Relations Department.
