Doing some doggone good

Life will imitate art this weekend as Hollywood Theatres supports a local charity by taking a hint from one the films it will be showing.

On Saturday 31 January at 10am the cinema will host a special screening of the film Hotel for Dogs, which is airing currently at the cinema. All profits from the event will go towards the Cayman Islands Humane Society. Tickets are available at a discounted rate.

The film follows a young sister and brother who, having been orphaned, are shuttled from foster home to foster home. In return they find solace in their secret pet terrier, Friday, who leads them to a derelict hotel downtown which is housing a number of stray dogs.

The children decide to make the building into a ‘hotel’ for stray dogs, using the brother’s clever inventions to feed, clean and provide for a quickly-growing number of animals living inside the makeshift shelter.

Hollywood Theatres’ general manager Kevin Grzybouski saw the screening simply as an opportunity to give back to the community.

‘We feel privileged that we are in a position to support local organisations and charities and our upcoming screening of Hotel for Dogs is yet another great opportunity for us to help give back to the community that supports us,’ he explained.

Parents should come along with their children for a great weekend morning out, added Mr. Grzybouski.

‘Hotel for Dogs is an excellent family movie that will be enjoyed by all and we at Hollywood Theatres are very excited to partner with Humane Society on this project.’
