Bolt’s Jamaica start

Triple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt will run his first competitive 100 metres of year at the Lucozade/GC Foster Classic in Spanish Town, St Catherine on March 14.

His veteran sprint-coach Glen Mills confirmed it.

Bolt anchored his Racers Track Club team to a world-leading 38.10 seconds in the 4x100m before clocking 45.13secs on the third leg of their winning 4x400m team (3:04.27) at Saturday’s 33rd Gibson Relays in Kingston last weekend. He also ran his first 100m at the GC Foster Classic in 2008.

The 22-year-old, who established world records of 9.69 and 19.30 in the 100m and 200m while winning gold medals in Beijing last summer, has completed two flat 400m races this season.

He clocked 46.35 seconds on debut at the Camperdown Classic on February 14 before posting 45.54 at the UWI Invitational Bolt on February 21.
