Security guard charged in killing

A Cayman Islands security guard has been charged in connection with the killing of a well-known local radio DJ.

Paul Ricardo Gordon, 39, appeared in court Tuesday charged with murdering Sherman A. Bodden, known on Vibe-FM 98.9 as ‘DJ Jazzy B.’

It was revealed in court that Mr. Gordon, a Jamaican national, was employed by the Security Centre and was last assigned to First Caribbean Bank.

Magistrate Nova Hall ordered Mr. Gordon to be held at the George Town police station for the next seven days, after Crown prosecutors asked for him to be kept there ‘pending resolution of certain matters.’

The Crown did not specify what those matters pertained to. Mr. Gordon is due back in court on 24 March.

Mr. Bodden was involved in a fight the night of 9 March at a home in the Savannah area, receiving several stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the Cayman Islands Hospital.

The fight was said to be domestic in nature and may have involved a dispute over a woman.
