Arrests made following assaults

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service arrested two people following two unrelated assaults that involved the use of edged weapons Monday.

The first incident occurred around 5pm in the vicinity of Eclipse Drive, George Town.

The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a report that a man and a woman were fighting and that a knife may have been involved.

Police responded to the scene and found that a man had sustained a laceration to his face. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The second incident occurred at around 10.15pm in Impulse Close, Bodden Town.

The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a report that a man had been attacked by another individual who was armed with a machete.

Police said that the two men, both of whom live on Impulse Close, had gotten into a fight that resulted in one of the men receiving an injury from the machete.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.
