The Cayman Islands Golf Championships will once again be sponsored by NCB Homes this year.
The championships run from May 9-10 at the North Sound Club. This is the second of the three year title sponsorship agreement for these championships.
‘NCB is very proud to be a supporter of this prestigious annual event and the development of golf generally in the Cayman Islands,’ said Matthew Wight, Director of Operations at NCB Homes.
Last year The Cayman Islands Amateur Championship was a great success.
There was a total of 67 entries in 2008 broken down into the following categories: Men’s Championship, Ladies Championship, Men’s Senior Championship, Ladies A Flight, Men’s A Flight, Overall Net Champion, Junior Winner, Special Hole in One.
The winner of the Ladies Championship and Men’s Championship flights (if otherwise eligible) secured a place on the National Team.
This is a 36 hole stroke play competition and is the premier golfing event of the year. The Championships concludes the qualifying for the national team to represent the Cayman Islands at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships, this year to be held August 2-9 in Turks & Caicos at the Provo Golf Club.
All golfers will be eligible to compete at all handicap levels. Those who do not want to play in the championship flight are encouraged to enter the ladies or men’s ‘A’ flight.
This is played from the blue tees (men) and red tees (ladies). Once again there will be prizes for all flights and trophies for the ladies, men’s and senior champions.
The entry fee for the tournament is $50 for CIGA members and $100 for non-members. Golf fees for both days are payable directly to the North Sound Club.
