Tennis aces descend on Cayman next week for the highly anticipated Legends tournament.
The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman will kick off the Legends Championships tennis tournament on April 23.
There will be a host of opportunities to meet some of the world’s greatest players, including Jim Courier, Goran Ivanisevic, Karel Novacek and Mikael Pernfors.
Gates open at 2pm on Thursday and ticket holders are welcome to watch warm-up rounds of championship tennis at The Courts or meet the champions in person at the merchandise tent, where players will be available to take photos and sign autographs on Legends memorabilia.
Champagne by Lanson as well as a selection of beverages offered by Jacques Scott, including a rum bar and beer tent, and delicious food offerings by The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman will also be available for purchase.
The first quarter-final matches start promptly at 3pm and will feature Wayne Ferreira and Mark Philippoussis followed by Mats Wilander and Jimmy Arias.
Opening day festivities continue at 7:30 pm with ‘Thursday Night Whites’, a relaxed affair featuring cool cocktails, sexy sounds, delectable buffet style dining and an exclusive opportunity to rub (tennis) elbows with the legends themselves.
The dress code for the evening is white, and guests will be treated to the sumptuous surroundings and gold standards of service provided by the world-renowned Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Resort Legends Championships is one of eight events on the 2009 Outback Champions Series, a collection of tennis events around the world featuring the greatest names in tennis over the age of 30.
The event features $150,000 in prize money with an undefeated winner taking home $60,000. Players also compete for Champions Series points that will determine the Champions Rankings year-end No.1. Courier won it last year.
