Greenies defy Wright’s pace

Whichever Greenies side you’re watching, they’re always guaranteed excitement. That was the case again on Sunday when Greenies 1 snatched victory from By Rite in a Clico Cayman Division One game at Smith Road Oval.

By Rite started brightly with opener Jalon Linton getting 22. Kineil Irving came in and hit 24 and top scorer was Sylvester Suberan who is in a rich vein of form hit 54. All rounder Conroy Wright chipped in with 26 to take By Rite to 199-8 in 49 overs.

Faisal Ahmed (2-31) and Hector Robinson (2-34) were the pick of the Greenies bowlers.

Greenies started badly with openers Steve Smith and Ian Rotsey going early. Craig Scott came in and top scored with 39 and Josh Brown got 37. Greenies steadily moved towards their target but By Rite were always competitive.

Things got a little tense for Greenies but it was bowlers Ahmed and Robinson who steered them to the runs in the 48th over, to finish on 200-9.

Fast bowler Wright was the pick of the By Rite bowlers, taking 3-13 in 10 overs.
