This year Vivendi Cabaret sponsored a squad in the Winter Adult Co-Ed Softball League.
The team defied expectations by finishing at the top of its division in the Barracuda league.
From there the guys and gals put on their hitting shoes and marched through the playoffs and into the title game against the PWC Experience.
In that match they would use late inning heroics, courtesy of a game-winning two-out hit in the bottom of the seventh inning from unsung player Jeremy Miller, to win the B league title 20-19.
The squad had notable performances in the final and during the season up and down the roster. Among the more notable names were team MVP Simon Rivers (who came up with many clutch at-bats) and Molly-Ann Moore who always gave 110 percent effort.
In fact Moore would come up huge in the finals, scoring the winning run on the last hit of the game.
Rob Harris, team co-captain, felt the season and the final game saw great performances from the tireless squad.
‘After a long and competitive season of co-ed softball, it seemed like the best of the drama was saved for the final game.
‘The longest journey begins with the first step and when we scored those first four runs, all without a single out, we knew it was going to be our night in the end. The later innings showed we switched roles as they were tight and we got loose.
‘I’m proud of how we came back against PWC and I’m proud of the season we had, suffering just a handful of losses while winning our division. Timely hitting and a never-die attitude gave us the edge in the finals and throughout the season. Well done team Vivendi Cabaret.’
Team co-captain and ace pitcher Robert Boggess had a similar feeling on the season. As part owner of Vivendi Cabaret, Boggess expressed his immense pride in sponsoring such a great team.
To honour the squad’s achievement Boggess brought the team out to Vivendi Cabaret recently to enjoy a free show and be awarded with the team trophy.
