Cayman Beauty Club organisers are seeking contestants to represent Cayman in an upcoming Miss Caraibes Hibiscus beauty pageant.
The contest, geared at promoting island culture, takes place at the Maho Sonesta Resort Convention Centre on the French island of St Maarten from 27 November to 7 December.
Caymanian ladies between the ages of 17 and 25 are welcome to be a part of the selection.
The deadline for entry is 30 June, 2009 and interested persons may contact 323-3617 for full details or for further information log on to www.miss-caraibes.com.
‘The young ladies selected will go through an extensive four months preparation process to ensure that Cayman is well represented,’ said franchise holder Dwight McLean.
Contestants from 15 Caribbean islands will make presentations in cultural wear, swimwear, evening gown and speech.
Participants will be judge on various criteria, including poise, appearance, stage presence, demarche, speaking abilities and choice of costume and evening gown.
The participants will also be involved in various activates such as island hopping, dining at sponsors’ restaurants, visiting tourist spots and meeting government officials.
Contestants have the opportunity to win various category awards: Best Cultural Wear, Best Gown, Miss Amity, Miss Popularity and Miss Photogenic. The top three contestants will be presented with a second runner-up, first runner-up and the title of Miss Caraibes Hibiscus 2010.
So far representatives from the Cayman Islands have made four appearances in the pageant.
