Youngsters ready for tough test

Following on from the success of the Conyers, Dill and Pearman Inter-Island Challenge between Cayman and Bermuda; the Under-14s rugby team is stepping up a notch to play in the North Carolina All Star South East Regional Tournament, at U-15 level, to be held in Charlotte from today until Monday.

The U15 age group gives players, who have fallen between the age gaps of previous tournaments, a chance to play at tour level.

The team predominantly made up of the U14 squad, is keen to add the scalps of the North Carolina clubs to their impressive three wins in Bermuda in March which culminated in a 26-0 win in the Cayman v Bermuda IRB sanctioned Junior International.

The team departs Cayman in two groups, 14 players yesterday and nine players today and with support of Mourant, du Feu & Jeune as well as the sponsors from the previous tour they are excited and raring to go.

Of the squad of the 20 players and three coaches ,16 are Cayman born, which bodes well for the future of rugby and the Cayman Rugby Football Union. This squad follows on the coat tails of the already successful Under 19s and Under 20s who are Caribbean champions.
