The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism is once again looking for families to host New York City children visiting the Cayman Islands to experience some fresh air and fun in the sun this summer.
For the third year in a row, the Cayman Islands, Cayman Airways and The Fresh Air Fund will continue their successful partnership and provide a group of inner-city youths the trip of a lifetime to Cayman.
The Cayman Islands will host kids ranging in age from 10-12 from 27 July to 2 August, giving them the opportunity to experience some of the most unique and exciting activities the Caribbean has to offer.
The Fresh Air Fund adolescents coming to Cayman are selected by the organization based on their achievements, their willingness to succeed and their history with the organization. Each year, the Department of Tourism works closely with The Fresh Air Fund to ensure the group experiences the warm Caymanian culture, hospitality and heritage by flying straight on Cayman Airways and visiting attractions including Stingray City, Boatswain’s Beach, Pedro St. James and QE II Botanic Park. The group will also take an adventure-filled day trip to one of the sister islands. The trip is meant to provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience new things outside of New York City to kids who wouldn’t be able to visit without the generosity provided by Cayman, and the host families and private partners who help make the trip a reality.
The Fresh Air Fund is an independent, not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877.
The organization garners extensive media coverage both in New York and on a national scale, and provides an ideal opportunity for the Cayman Islands to showcase its well-earned reputation for hospitality and warmth. The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has been working closely with The Fresh Air Fund to prepare all who are involved for the trip ahead to ensure another successful and memorable visit to the Cayman Islands.
Any families interested in serving as hosts for the kids or private organizations who would like to provide services or materials for the trip can contact Lani Bothwell from the DoT at [email protected].
