Miss Cayman and Miss Teen contestants prepare for their pageants
Five Caymanian beauties are undergoing rigorous fitness training in preparation for the upcoming Miss Cayman pageant, scheduled for 26 September.
Mysti Bush, Sabrina Jackson, Shari Walton, Carmen Gorham and Sasha Powell were given tips on what to expect during training at a meet-and-greet event held last Saturday.
The eight-week long training is being conducted under the watchful eyes of committee members, trainers and professionals to ensure that the eventual winners fare well at the Miss Cayman contest, which will take place at the Lions Centre.
The first formal meeting took place with the girls at Cayman Islands Investment Bureau in Cayman Corporate Centre.
Miss Cayman chairperson Jacqui Terry and committee members Dawn Sawney and Nichelle Welcome met with each contestant privately to highlight what to expect during training sessions.
The ladies also met with make-up consultant Melanie Seymour to learn about skin care, choosing the right make-up colours and hair styles.
The group also watched a DVD of previous contestants’ participation in the Miss Cayman pageant and met with fitness specialists and wardrobe and speech consultants.
Participation and training is very important and it helps the women have confidence and be prepared the night of the pageant, say committee members.
Meanwhile, preparations are still ongoing for the Miss Teen contestants, who will be taking to the stage in the Lions Centre on 29 August for their pageant.
They recently had their official headshots taken and have also been busy visiting local institutions such as The Pines Retirement Home, taking etiquette classes and training at Body Sculptor.
