The Passport and Corporate Services office reminds holders of Cayman Islands passports to check to ensure the validity of their documents before making travel arrangements.
Such persons visiting the United States must ensure that their Caymanian passports are valid for at least six months beyond the date of intended departure from the US. Visas should also be checked to ensure that they are current.
The time required by PCS to issue a Caymanian passport, new or renewal, is three weeks.
Processing applications for US visa waivers takes three working days and to obtain such a waiver, Caymanian passports must be machine-readable. Also, US visa waivers cannot be issued to any Cayman Islands passport holder whose police record lists a criminal conviction.
‘Once travel documents have been filed with the PCS and a date and time for collection has been arranged, applicants must also ensure that their documents are collected on time,’ said Head of Passport & Corporate Services Janice McLean.
Anyone intending to travel to the US on a British Citizen passport, without a valid US visitor’s visa must first obtain online authorisation through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation. The web address is https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov.
The public is also reminded of the PCS’ office opening hours: Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 3pm
PCS staff members are not permitted to open the office after-hours or on weekends to issue passports or other travel documents. Neither can they allow the pick-up of documents which were not collected during working hours as prearranged.
