Another massive sea swim takes place tomorrow and some of Cayman’s finest swimmers will be battling it out again.
The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association hosts the 25th Annual Foster’s Food Fair 800 metre Sea Swim along Seven Mile Beach.
Foster’s Food Fair’s faithful support of open water swimming in the Cayman Islands has been one of the longest continual sponsorships of any sporting event on the island, and their race has become one of the most popular swims in CIASA’s open water calendar.
As this is the silver anniversary of their swim, CIASA have extended a deep feeling of gratitude to Foster’s Food Fair for their continued support and invites all of Cayman’s swim enthusiasts to help celebrate the event by participating in the race.
CIASA expects around 125 entrants, including members of the Foster family who have been training hard for this race.
Last year’s defending champion Seiji Groome will return, with other CARIFTA swimmers hoping to beat him.
The swim will run in a northerly direction from Governor’s Beach to Public Beach.
Registration will take place in the Governor’s Beach parking lot from 3-3:45pm, prior to a 4pm start in front of the Governor’s house.
This year’s race fees are: adults CI$10 for members, $15 for non-members; children under 18, CI$5 for members, $10 for non-members.
Race fees include a tee-shirt, swim cap and refreshments. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each group.
