Sports for all of the people of the Cayman Islands is a serious initiative.
With crime and so much distress plaguing Cayman sports can serve as a way forward for locals.
Last weekend saw the first step in that direction with the launch of the East End U13 five-a-side league.
Now the Department of Sports is setting its sights on the district of West Bay. In conjunction with members from the district’s community the department is organizing a West Bay community sports group.
The goal for the West Bay one, like with the East End league, is to help provide more positive activities for the youth and adults.
The department is currently seeking residents of West Bay that are interested in volunteering.
Persons are needed for one of a number of different roles that are crucial in running the league.
Among the areas in need are public relations, coaching, officiating, scheduling, general supervision, administration and game commentary.
Persons interested in volunteering can e-mail Jackie Ebanks at [email protected] or ring her at 916-6182 to provide her with contact details.
The department appreciates all persons that have decided to join this initiative and those that will do so as they are making their community a better place.
