Constitution takes effect 6 November

The new Cayman Islands Constitution, which voters approved in the referendum held on 20 May, will take effect on Friday 6 November.

Governor Stuart Jack announced the Constitution’s Appointment Day during the Throne Speech in Legislative Assembly Friday in the opening of the Budget Session of the House.

The new Constitution replaces the 1972 version in its entirety.

The UK Privy Council and the UK Parliament approved the new Constitution in June.
