Budget’s offense rolls on

Tonight sees the third week of games in adult roller hockey.

At 8pm the MEPCO High Rollers take on the Barracudas before the Budget Beavers take on CDMS at 9pm.

MEPCO comes into tonight’s game looking to keep the goals coming.

The side has been on a scoring tear, slotting home 15 games in two games.

In their last game the side put up 10 goals with Dan Etherington (three goals, one assist), Ryan MacMillan (two goals, two assists) and Tim Courtis (two goals, one assist) leading the scoring assault.

Their opponents meanwhile look to keep the momentum going from last week’s performance.

Goals were in bunches as the Barracudas scored nine goals in a convincing victory.

Fareed Hosein had a stellar two goal, two assist performance while Brad Anderson was a scoring machine with four goals.

In tonight’s match-up passing will be key for the Barracudas side. If they can keep the puck around the centre line then its offense can get and stay in gear and create goals.

Arguably the team to watch tonight will be the undefeated Budget Beavers. Budget’s trademark has been their explosive offense which has jumped out to a league-best 23 goals on the young season.

Leading the way has been top scorer Tim McDonald who has compiled an incredible 14 goals and 18 points already.

The other star on the team is Mark Missal, who has a league-leading eight assists to go with six goals and 14 points.

Both were in exceptional form last game with seven goals and two assists for McDonald while Missal had three goals and five assists.

A winless CDMS squad may be heavy underdogs going up against Budget. But its defense could cause the upset.

The side has allowed the fewest goals (14) in the league thanks to the goal-tending efforts of Patrick Bourque and Nigel Windsor.

In addition Budget’s porous defense leaves room for CDMS to get ahead. If the likes of Dave Champoux and Ian Bridges (both had two goals in their last game) can shoot well then CDMS could well be in line for the win.

All four squads make up the WestTel Adult Roller Hockey League. Games in the league are played every Tuesday at 8pm.
