Barcelona’s magic touch

The East End Community five-a-side football league is fully under way.

Games press on and continue to keep the youth in a positive activity.

The league saw a batch of games over the weekend at the Donovan Rankine play field in East End.

In the U13 division the Iguanas defeated team Flamingos 2-0.

Winston Lightbody and Rashaun Conolly had the deciding goals.

In the other division game only one goal would find its way into the back of the net. Kelvin Watler emerged the hero for the Gators as his strike took the team to a 1-0 win over the Sharks.

The hotly contested U18 division also saw a pair of games. The first match would see team Barcelona continue its winning ways as it beat down team Manchester 4-1.

Jordan Kirchman picked up where he left off with a two goal haul that brings his season total to three goals.

Jamal McLaughlin matched Kirchman’s efforts with two goals as well.

Casey McLaughlin would be the only player to give Manchester some respectability with a goal.

In some ways the play of team Barcelona is not surprising as the real Spanish giants are in good stead in La Liga.

The other U18 game saw English domination as team Chelsea beat team Real Madrid 4-2.

Cody McLaughlin was a one man wrecking crew scoring an incredible four goals all on his own.

With that performance young McLaughlin has placed himself as the premier striker in the league with five goals already to his name.

For team Real Madrid Rafael Hernandez had both of the team’s goals.

Like their real-life counterparts, Chelsea are setting the pace as one of the top teams.

Games for the East End league are played every Saturday evening from 6pm onwards.
