It is about time legislators gave thought and some teeth to the laws the Department of Environmental Heath want to have in order to ensure safety in hotels and restaurants.
Can someone tell me why safety standards cannot be mandated in hotels and restaurants?
When I worked in Cayman Brac in the 1990s, I was astounded to learn that the DoEH had no legislation to back up their efforts. It’s amazing that a decade later the situation has not changed.
This begs the question: are the legislators ignorant of this fact or they are so busy that they can’t deal with something as vital as safety in hotels and restaurants. I ask the people responsible to look into this matter because it is not only vital for our tourism, but also for my own safety whenever I choose to eat out.
