Armed robbery at gas station

Royal Cayman Islands Police detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a gas station on Crewe Road Monday night.

At about 9.50 p.m. a cashier was working in the Meadac Texaco service centre, Crewe Road, George Town, when a man entered the store, flashed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash.

Police said the suspect made off with sum of money and was last seen heading towards the rear of the service station.

No one was hurt in the hold-up.

The suspect was described as about 5’7′ in height with a medium build. He had a dark complexion and was wearing a long black t-shirt over dark blue jeans and a black peaked cap.

Witnesses said the suspect also had what appeared to be a white t-shirt covering his face.

Detective Constable Bowen of the George Town Criminal Investigation Department is appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the robbery, or the suspect leaving the scene, to call George Town police station on 949-4222 or contact Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS).
