AGM will flag the way forward

The flag football scene has grown so much in recent years that it has become a year-round sport.

The newly formed women’s national team is competing in an international tournament this weekend in Florida. The women’s league has flourished in its two years and more women are getting involved in its running.

An opportunity for women to have more of a say in the sport presents itself next week when the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association holds its Annual General Meeting.

Perry ‘BoyWonder’ Levy is a committee member. He said: ‘CIFFA would like to say a big thank you to all teams for helping us have such a successful year, and we would also like to once again congratulate all of our new champions: Zulu Warriors and Sand Soldiers (Beach), Hammerheads (Co-ed), Walkers Wonders and Goldfield Hellcats (Summer) and the men’s Cayman and women’s World teams for winning the inaugural Caribbean Regional Cup in November.

CIFFA’s AGM is on Thursday 21 January at the Comfort Suites ground floor boardroom from 6pm and everyone is welcome.

A new executive committee will be selected at the meeting for the upcoming season, as well as to get feedback from players regarding the way last season went and to listen to and address any concerns going forward.

This year a few new positions will be created to provide more CIFFA members with the opportunity to give back and offer input to the operations of the association.

Levy added: ‘We will be accepting nominations for the new executive committee positions until the meeting. Please feel free to nominate either yourself or someone you feel may be suited for a position.

‘The executive committee positions are: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Women’s League Representative, Field Supervisor, Assistant Field Supervisor, Fundraising Chairman, Assistant Fundraising Chairman and Website Coordinator. Descriptions of each of these positions can be found on the CIFFA website,
