Burger King spice it up

Five-a-side football action at the
King’s Sports Centre is getting more gripping as the season unfolds.

Week 5 of the WestTel Division 1
Five-A-Side league only had two matches, but both proved vital to the league
standings.

The much anticipated game between
last season’s finalists, Burger King and Bonaca Boys, ended with Burger King sizzling
to a 3-2 victory. It was sweet revenge for the Burger boys who got roasted in
the final last season.

The league’s leading scorer Rene
Carter grabbed a hat-trick for Burger King and the win has taken them to the
top of the table. Rolly Bodden and Calvin Jefford – back from playing in Jamaica
– got the Bonaca Boys goals.

Morris Brown scored twice for
WestTel in their 5-2 victory over Scotiabank; a win which has bumped them off
the basement and into fifth place in the overall league standings.

After six weeks of Division 2
games, only one team remains undefeated, the Transformers. They beat Caylight
Legendz 4-3. Coconut Joe’s beat Appleby 3-2 and McAlpine won 3-1 against
BDO-Tortuga.

Week 6 also saw Old Boys jump
several spots to No.3 in the league thanks to a whopping five-goal night by captain
Daniel Cummings in their 7-2 win over Maples and Calder. T

In Division 3 CFP Buzz Crusaders
also remain unbeaten.

Ocean Frontiers gave the Crusaders
a scare with a close game ending 4-3 in favour of the league leaders.

KPMG Blue Iguanas and Doghouse
Devils II cruised to easy victories.

Week 7 is sure to be the most competitive of
the season, with the battle for top spot on the line between the Crusaders and
Blue Iguanas. They play on Thursday at 7pm.

KPMG have only lost once and that
was to CFP 4-1 at the start of the season. KPMG also boast the division’s top
scorer in Miklos Ushezyl with nine. CFP’s Kris Pearson has scored eight, so too
has Ian Lambert of the Doghouse Devils II.
