Chinese visitors to Cuba soar

Cuba’s tourism growth was highlighted by tourism minister Manuel Marrero
at a conference in Beijing,
China.
Mr. Marrero, speaking to travel agents, tour operators and journalists, said
that 76 airlines operate in Cuba’s
ten international airports, servicing passengers to and from 39 major cities
across the world.

Growth

According to Prensa Latina, the
minister also explained that Chinese tourists visiting Cuba had increased from 670
visitors in 1994 to 12,000 in 2009. Cuba experienced a 3.5 per cent
growth in total visitor numbers last year in a total incoming figure of 2.4 million
visitors over the calendar year.

In a recent speech, Cayman Islands premier McKeeva Bush revealed that Cayman
would be seeking talks with their Cuban tourism industry counterparts in order
to establish good relations for possible future multi-destination linkups and
other opportunities.
