Tortuga Moon shines on Boatswain’s

Models and various species of
animals including some adorable Humane Society mutts ready for adoption will be
hitting the catwalk at Botswain’s Beach at the Tortuga Moon fundraiser Saturday.

Kicking off at 6pm with a buffet
and silent auction, the event is raising funds, which will go directly to the medical
care of the creatures living at Botswain’s Beach.

The main auction draw is an
original collaborative painting of Moriah, a rehabilitated green sea turtle
living at the Farm, by artists Guy Harvey and Wyland

“Featuring women’s, men’s, kids’
fashions along with sunglasses, footwear and jewellery, the fashion show will
be professionally choreographed so that models and animals match,” said Turtle
Farm veterinarian Dr. Johanna Mejia-Fava.

Kids will enjoy the petting zoo by the
Pirate’s Caves, limbo time and a hula hoop contest on the beach.

“Then get ready to dance barefoot until
midnight in the sand and snow and do a little night snorkeling with the turtles
under the Tortuga Moon,” said Ms Melia-Fava.

Other raffle prizes and auction
items include two golf foursomes, fine jewelry pieces, a scuba dive trip,
Atlantis Submarine tickets, gift certificates from local restaurants and
shops, Havaianas and free giveaways from TCBY.

Sponsors include Cayman Shoe Shop,
De Sunglass Man, The Mansion, Tortuga Rum, TCBY, Tel Aviv Couture, Animal
Necessity, LLC, and Hair and Makeup by Wild Strawberries.

“Thanks and Praises” band
and DJ Dweitt will be providing the rhythm of the night. Buffet dinner poolside
and two complimentary drinks are included in the ticket price.

“The Cayman Turtle Farm is part of the Cayman
Heritage and my job is to maintain the health of every individual animal with
the best care I can provide,” said Ms Mejia-Fava.

“We as a community can contribute
to fundraisers such as this Animal Fashion Show where we can all have fun and
at the same time make a difference in the life of a turtle.”
