Noel Williams, president of the
Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Association, has ambitions of world domination.
On top of the regional NORCECA
event, he hopes to secure a slot on the world tour at a World Congress seminar
in Italy in September. That would mean a pick of 200 countries playing in
United States, Canada and Puerto
Rico have two men’s teams in the tournament starting Friday. No Cubans this
time even though the women won last time.
Also in it are Dominican Republic,
Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago and
hosts Cayman Islands will compete with entries in both genders, while Aruba and
El Salvador only will participate in the men’s tournament.
El Salvador (March 25-28), Boca
Chica, Dominican Republic (April 1-4) and Guatemala (April 8-11) are the next
three venues on the calendar.
