Rene deflated champs BT

The FA Cup quarter-finals were
tremendous entertainment last weekend.

Elite avenged last season’s final
defeat to Bodden Town with a 1-0 win last Sunday at the Ed Bush Stadium in a
spirited game.

From a Donavan Godet cross, Rene
Carter hammered the ball home in the 22nd minute for Elite’s winner.
Bodden Town could have equalised in the second half but Marvin Twyne missed a
penalty.

First Division Latinos knocked out
Premier side Sunset 1-0, Tigers beat Roma 3-0 and George Town turned back
Scholars International 3-2.

Latinos keeper Alexi Reve was
injured early in the first half of the game and was evidently in excrutiating
pain. He could be easily crowned as man of the match after preventing some
incredible attempts on goal.

However, it was substitute and
former national representative Alfredo ‘Flako’ Challenger who did the honours
by scoring for Latinos after latching onto a rebound from a shot taken by
Morris Young in the 86th minute. This was all the First Division team needed to
get to the semis.

A proud manager of the Latinos team
Christopher Moore said: “I feel good we are the only team from the First
Division still in this competition. It does not matter who we meet at the semis
we are going to take this title.”

In the grudge game between
perennial champions George Town and Scholars International it was Justin Pierre
who drew first blood in the 23rd minute followed by Fabian Malcolm in the 25th
minute. Nemroy Forbes netted three minutes before the end of the first half.

Scholars International fought
desperately to get back into the game but it was leading goal scorer of the
Premier League competition Tex Whitelocke who made it 3-1 in the 65th minute.

As the game got more concentrated
Forbes scored again in the 75th minute but this was not enough to save the West
Bay based team going out.

At the Ed Bush it was a one sided
affair between Tigers and Roma as Alexi Espinal was first on the score sheet
with a goal in the 20th minute.

In the second half Carlos Powery netted
in the 60th minute and Jose Luis Bush added the final touches in the 75th
minute for the rout.

The draw for the semi-finals will
be announced soon.
