Coral adds fourth medal to the pool

At the CARIFTA Swimming
Championships in Kingston, Jamaica two more medals were added to the collection
on Monday night, bringing the total medal count for Cayman’s swimmers up to
nine.

In the first event of the night,
Coral Tomascik picked up her fourth medal of the meet, taking silver in the
11-12 girls 200 metres Individual Medley. Lara Butler finished fourth in the
same event in her age group and Seiji Groome was seventh.

In the 50m breaststroke finals,
Seiji swam to a sixth place finish, producing a personal best time in the
event.

The 200m butterfly saw Iain
McCallum compete in his first CARIFTA final, picking up eighth place in the
boys 11-12 category, a point for the team and a personal best time.

He was followed shortly after by
Lara Butler in the girls 15-17 final, in which she took the lead after the
first 50 metres and never looked back, winning the event in a time more than
four seconds faster than her previous best and collecting the third gold medal
of the competition for Cayman.

The girls 15-17 4x200m relay team
of Summer Flowers, Abi Drummond, Ariana Bain and Lara Butler ended the night’s
action with a solid seventh place finish.

Yesterday was the final day of the
competition.
