Squash in the United States is
played predominantly on the East Coast in the New England area, particularly
New York, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia, and is played almost exclusively
in private clubs and prestigious universities like the Ivy League Colleges.
This allows the Cayman Squash Open to tap into a demographic of sports tourism
that is ideal for the Cayman Islands.
The 2009 Cayman Open included
coverage by Vanity Fair, with anticipated coverage again for 2010. Three
professional squash journalists have flown to Cayman to cover the event for the
International squash magazines and websites, and event coverage is expected on
SKY TV & the Tennis Channel.
