The Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman
hosted its annual dog walk recently. This was the fourth year of the event, with
proceeds benefitting the Cayman Islands Humane Society as well as other Kiwanis
More than 45 participants turned up
with their canine companions for a walk along the dyke roads off West Bay Road.
The dogs certainly appreciated the
change of scenery, as well as the abundance of new friends to sniff.
The organisers thanked all those
who came out to participate and all those who donated their time to such a
worthy cause. The club hopes to expand the walk to more than just a dog walk
and it looks forward to continued support for the event next year.
The club’s main focus is the
children of the community and with support from the community the club has been
able to make regular contributions to the local schools in support of its breakfast
programme. After several years of perseverance, the club successfully launched its
mobile library programme over a year ago, assisting under privileged children
with reading in various districts of the Cayman Islands.
The club meets at 12.30pm every
Wednesday at Britannia Golf Course Restaurant and the last Wednesday of each
month at Champion House II at 6pm.
