Butterfield splash out

The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming
Association continues its 2010 Open Water swim season with the Butterfield 800
metres Sea Swim on Saturday.

It is the eighth annual swim and as
always will have plenty of entrants from beginners to world class along Seven
Mile Beach.

Recent sea swims have seen a
noticeable increase in participation. “Swimming is such a healthy and fun
activity,” said volunteer organiser Dagmar Wojcicki. “What better to way to
enjoy Seven Mile Beach than to turn out for a sea swim and enjoy awards, prizes
and pizza at the finish?!”

The Butterfield swim has
traditionally benefitted from a high level of interest by people in training
for the Flowers Sea Swim held the following month.

“Butterfield is pleased once again
to be a major sponsor of the 800m sea swim,” said Butterfield’s Rhonda Serrano.

“For over 40 years, Butterfield has
fostered a culture of corporate giving that embraces all sectors of the local
community, and we take pride in encouraging progress, enriching lives and
protecting the natural environment. We wish all the participants the best of
luck in this weekend’s event.”

The race starts at Governor’s Beach
and finishes at Public Beach. Registration takes place at the start from
3:00-3:45m. Pre-registration is available through the association’s website.

The race will start at 4pm. Race
fees are CI$15 for adults and CI$10 for children for members, CI$20 and $15 for
