Red Cross holds business first aid course

The Cayman Islands Red Cross held a
lay responder first aid/CPR instructor course for members of the business community.

Participants who took part will be
able to train their own workforce.

Red Cross volunteers also took part
in the course and they will now be able to assist with public training
programmes.

Peter Hughes, health and safety
training manager at the Red Cross said: “These biannual trainings will serve to
increase the CIRC’s capacity to teach and will help to keep up with the demand
for first aid and CPR courses in the community, as well as increasing public
awareness on the use of such equipment as the automated external
defibrillators.”

The Red Cross will be scheduling
more of these courses, including ones for lay and professional responders for
land-based and aquatic courses.

The organisation is seeking
corporate partners to help support its ongoing provision of first aid and CPR
training to teachers employed in local educational facilities.
