All Stars shoot for title

The Cayman Islands Netball
Association invites the Cayman public to the open league grand finals on
Saturday 22 May.

The first game of the night at the
Truman Bodden Sports Complex netball courts focuses on division two. The two
youngest teams in the league will clash as newcomers Cayman National Bank All
Stars battle last year’s finalist Rising Stars Money Gram at 5pm. The winner of
the game will be promoted to division one next season. Both squads come into
the final after vastly different seasons. CNB finished second in the standings
at 3-3 while Rising Stars were second to last at 1-5. Saturday will show if
Marticqua Williams can lead CNB past the likes of Lexie Solomon.

The marquee game of the night is at
7pm in division one as Roma and Butler Properties All Stars clash for the
title.

Roma, the 2008-09 division one
runners-up, will be looking to redeem themselves after missing out in the
finals last year against eventual champions Storm Quik Cash. Sudan Powell and
Nicola Pringle are sure to be extra motivated to finally claim hardware.

Meanwhile the Butlers All Stars
boast an 8-0 record after demolishing the rest of the field in the first two
rounds of the season. They are confident coming into the finals behind the play
of flawless Paulina Bodden and “Mrs. Netball” Lyneth Monteith.

Admission for the games is CI$5
adults and CI$1 for children under 12. Food and Drinks will be on sale courtesy
of the netball association canteen. All proceeds will go towards the
development of netball in Cayman, especially the growth of youth programs.
