Michael Essien will discover today
if his World Cup dream is over.
The Chelsea midfielder, 27, crocked
his knee on African Nations Cup duty with Ghana in January. Essien said: “The
plan is to have a meeting with the Ghana FA and Chelsea in the next few days.
“I have to keep working hard to be
fit. Once I am fit I hope to feature in at least one trial match before the
World Cup. I haven’t played since January so I’ll need games. However, even if I don’t get any games, as
long I am declared fit by the medical team, I will be in South Africa for
sure.”
