Bolt coasts but dismisses records

Usain Bolt cantered to a routine
victory over mere mortals on his Diamond League debut in Shanghai Sunday and
then assumed the mantle of killjoy by saying that he would not be chasing more
world records this season.

Bolt clocked 19.76 seconds for a
routine 200 metres win by half a second. He said: “If Tyson decides that he
wants to break a record, fine with me. If he wants to chase them down, I have
no problem with that. I’m looking forward to the clashes.”

Bolt versus Gay is bubbling up nicely after the
pair’s lip-smacking starts to their season. Their Diamond League contracts
commit them to facing off this summer, but Bolt played down his ambitions.
“This year I said I’m not going to chase any records. It doesn’t matter if I
get beaten this season because it’s the ‘off’ season.”
