Mobile library needs support

The Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman
will be using the Design Showcase at Cypress Point to raise money for the
Kiwanis Mobile Library.

The organisation has teamed up with
Z99 and The Rooster to use the event, taking place in Crystal Harbour on
Saturday, 29 May, to raise money for the project through the entrance fee, with
all proceeds going to the mobile library project.

The fundraising for the mobile
library was started several years ago, with the aim of purchasing a trailer to
house the library. This has now been converted into a mobile library that
travels to different communities throughout Grand Cayman to lend books to the
underprivileged and shut-ins.

A number of volunteers are involved
in the programme, including a number of teachers, who not only assist with the
lending programme but also read one on one to many of the children in the
various districts.

The programme, which has been up
and running for almost a year, is now in desperate need of new books, with the
organisers hoping that the money raised with the Design Showcase will allow the
organisation to add to the books currently in circulation.

The Design Showcase will allow
members of the public to view Villa Retiro, a new home by NCB Homes, between
11am and 3pm, displaying the latest interior design trends from local outlets
including Bon Vivant, Marksons, Uncle Bill’s, Beacon Furniture, Tomlinson
Furniture, Furniture Depot, I-Systems as well as Harbour House Marina and
Hyundai.

last Wednesday of each month at the Champion House II at 6pm. Please come out
