Unlike the West Indies side,
women’s cricket in the Cayman Islands is going from strength to strength.
There are four teams on
island and one in particular, the Stingrays, have emerged as the dominant side.
Champions from last season’s inaugural campaign, they are unbeaten so far in
four matches. The other teams; Panthers, Greenies and Motown, have all won one
each. Greenies probably have the best batter in Carmel Harms who has hit 101
and 85 but Stingrays have the better all-round ability.
Technical director Theo Cuffy said; “Stingrays are adapting
much better to the game and learning faster than the other women’s sides. Their
all-round performances in both batting and bowling is impressive. They have a
better approach than the others.”
