Desalination conference this week

This
week, Consolidated Water Co. Ltd., the Water Authority-Cayman and the Caribbean
Desalination Association, known as CaribDA, are co-hosting the Association’s
second biennial conference and exhibition which continues through Friday at the
Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.

The
conference brings together decision makers, water utility leaders, researchers
and top managers from the Caribbean and other parts of the world. The
conference theme, ‘A View Beyond the Horizon,’ underlines CaribDA’s focus on
planning to better meet the needs of a fast changing world.

The
technical programme includes over 25 speakers and major international suppliers
will exhibit at the trade show.

Presentation
topics include technology and innovation, planning and management, finance and
economics, and regulations and the environment.

The
format allows for the presentation of traditional scientific and technical
papers on water related topics, as well as pilot projects and experimental endeavours.
The conference will also cover issues related to the sustainability and
affordability of desalination and water re-use.

The
conference kicked off on 1 June and planned speakers at the opening ceremony
were to include Premier McKeeva Bush and Deputy Premier Julianna
O’Connor-Connolly.
