Another Key Club year underway

Sixty-one Key Club members, as well
as members of the Builders Club representing Cayman Prep High School, John Gray
High School, St. Ignatius High School and Triple C High School, along with
several Kiwanis members attended the 2010-2011 Officers Installation Dinner.

The dinner was catered by Casanova
by The Sea and during dinner, the members were able to view the slide show of
the most recent Key Club trip to Orlando, Florida. Prior to the installation of
the new Key Club officers, the faculty advisor for the Builders Club of St.
Ignatius, Lache Franke, retired her officers of 2009-2010. She also installed
the new Builders Club officers for the upcoming year.

The new Key Club Lieutenant
Governor Gabriela Roberts then took her turn to retire the past officers of
2009-2010. She installed the new officers with the assistance of the past Lieutenant
Governor Danielle Borden by pinning on their new officer’s pin.

The new board consists of a
president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and editor.

As the outgoing president, Mr.
Borden made a farewell speech to the retired officers, wishing them a good
journey in life and the hope that they would always be devoted to service.

Newly installed presidents of each
club discussed what they had accomplished, as well as future plans. These
included an Earth Day clean up; a bake sale, which raised funds for the Blue
Iguana Programme; and a dog food drive for the Humane Society.

Cayman Prep and High
representatives said the Key Club fun day was a great way of interacting with
new people from different schools and according to Mrs. Gabriela Roberts, plans
are in the making for the division of the Cayman Islands to help raise money to
sponsor seas turtles as well.
