Brac gets Jamaica flight

Cayman
Brac will be getting direct flights to Jamaica following the announcement that
Airways International will stop there on 2 July.

The
carrier has a fleet of three Beech 99 turbo prop liners and said that it would
now be a simple 35-minute hop from Kingston. Passengers currently have to go
through Grand Cayman or Miami to visit the Brac, said Christopher Read of
Airways International.

Haiti

He
told the Sunday Gleaner that Airways International was also planning to go to
Haiti direct from Kingston, another journey that usually would take the best
part of a day.

“These
are two niches that I think we can effectively compete on because neither of
those destinations justifies a regular jetliner of 100 seats,” Mr. Read said,
pointing out that the 15-seater Beech could make it worthwhile.

“Cayman
Brac has never enjoyed direct services, and we plan to fill that gap,” he said.
